Immersion heater
Immersion heaters are a hot water tank with a heating element fitted to it. In many homes, this is used in place of a boiler, but is increasingly being used as a backup to the boiler in case of failure (as a combi boiler typically has no redundancy when it is inoperable). The elements themselves inevitably burn out, but fortunately, these are easily replaceable.
